A delegation of BJP leaders, led by senior BJP leader Puneet Mittal, met Chief Election Commissioner Dr Syed Nasim Ahmed Zaidi here today and pressed for the cancellation of parole granted to prisoners by the state government.
Zaidi, who is on a two-day visit to Dehradun to review the election preparedness, was apprised by the BJP about the issue. “We have requested the CEC to take steps to postpone the parole of prisoners until elections as we fear they may pose law and order problem in the state,” said Mittal.
The issue of ballot papers to be sent to the service voters and there after to the counting officers for counting was also discussed. “The entire system should be smooth without any delay,” Mittal added.
