The Indora police in this subdivision succeeded in recovering two minor girls allegedly abducted by local youths and arrested one of the accused from Rajasthan last evening.

As per police information, a Class XI minor girl of Barota under Thakurdwara police chowki was allegedly abducted by Dilawar Singh of the same village on the intervening night of September 18 and 19. The father of the victim in his complaint to the police had alleged that the accused who was working with a stone-crushing unit at Junjun in Rajasthan had abducted her on the pretext of marrying her.

DSP Manoj Joshi said a police team from the Thakurdwara police chowki had rushed to Rajasthan twice and finally succeeded in recovering the girl on December 7 and brought the alleged abductor Dilawar Singh from Junjun where he was living with the victim. He had been arrested under Sections 363 and 366-A, IPC. The victim has been handed over to the parents.

In another case, the father of a minor girl from Damtal said his daughter had gone with her sister and brother-in-law to Kathgarh on December 5, but didn’t return. He alleged a youth from his neighbour had abducted her on the pretext of marrying her. The Damtal chowki police immediately acted and recovered the victim from Pathankot next day on December 6, but could not arrest the culprit who is still at large.

The DSP said the police had sent her to the Child Protection Centre, Paragpur (Kangra), being run by the Social Welfare Department. He said the statements of both victims had been recorded in the court and the medical examination conducted for further investigation. A case under Sections 363 and 366-A, IPC, had been registered, he added.
