Remote Sensing Centre bags geospatial excellence award

LUDHIANA: Punjab Remote Sensing Centre (PRSC) bagged prestigious geospatial excellence award. Punjab Remote Sensing Centre received the Application of Geospatial Technology in Governance Award for project ‘3G approach for Governance’. This is first time that such recognition was conferred to PRSC.

Punjab Remote Sensing Centre (PRSC) bagged prestigious geospatial excellence award. Punjab Remote Sensing Centre received the Application of Geospatial Technology in Governance Award for project ‘3G approach for Governance’. This is first time that such recognition was conferred to PRSC.

Dr B Pateriya, director, PRSC, said, “It is PRSC’s another successive recognition at national level after getting Best Chapter Award of India Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS) and Best Poster award in ESRI User Conference third year in row. For Punjab State such recognitions are very important to establish in forefront of Space and Geospatial Technologies and playing frontal leadership role. This has become more important due to government’s push for use of technologies for crop insurance, digital India, smart city flagship programs.”

The award was presented by VK Singh, Minister of State of External Affairs, and Minister of State (independent charge) for North East Region, Government of India. Dr B Pateriya, director, PRSC, has received the award. He stressed that state has lot of potential to work in the field of application of space and geospatial technology for the welfare of farmers, citizens, environmental problem associated with climate change etc and good governance to address challenging issues people are facing to overcome and improve the services effectively. Dr Pateriya has given the credit of this success to the team of PRSC scientists and staff, especially project leader Dr RK Setia.
