SAD panel concerned over standoff

CHANDIGARH: The SADcore committee tonight expressed concern over the attack on Dhadrianwale.

Chandigarh, May 23

The SADcore committee tonight expressed concern over the attack on Dhadrianwale. The attack and the raging war between the Damdami Taksal and Dhadrianwale were discussed at the committee meeting, where most Akali leaders reportedly felt that the issue was threatening to snowball into a major controversy which could split the Sikhs.

Sources said the leaders observed that the issue had to be resolved at the earliest as the party could not afford to let the Sikh vote bank be divided. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and SAD president Sukhbir Badal.

The committee agreed on the need to return to the Panthic agenda through the celebrations to mark the golden jubilee of the Punjabi Suba and the 350th anniversary of Parkash Utsav of Guru Gobind Singh. — TNS
