Faridkot, January 6

Residents of many colonies here today saw campaign stickers of SAD candidates pasted on their house gates and windows. As many of these houses belong to Congress supporters, some of them are planning to lodge a complaint with the authorities.

Residents of Park Avenue Colony said they saw these stickers pasted on the main entrance of their houses, bearing the party symbol and photo of the Akali candidate from the Faridkot seat.  Sources said some local Akali supporters on Saturday night pasted these stickers, flags and posters in the area.

District Election Officer and DC MS Jaggi said such defacement of private property was a violation of the election code of conduct. “We will action as per law after the complaints are received,” said Jaggi.

Even while pasting a campaign sticker or poster on a private building, the candidate needs to take written permission of the owner and there should be proper calculation of election expenditure on these posters and stickers, said Jaggi.

Parambans Singh Romana, SAD candidate, denied that these stickers were pasted on his directions.
