A brick-kiln worker was killed after a Dabwali Transport bus, owned by the ruling Badals, allegedly hit him near Kabarwala village on the Abohar-Malout national highway early this morning. The bus driver fled the spot.

The victim, Roshan Lal (50) of Sarawan Bodla village, was going towards Malout around 6.30 am when the mishap took place. He was rushed to the Civil Hospital, Malout. He was shifted to Bathinda, but could not survive.

The deceased’s relatives, meanwhile, protested outside the Malout Civil Hospital, demanding registration of a murder case against the driver. “Roshan Lal was a poor Dalit man. His family must be given financial assistance and a job,” said Babu Ram, a relative of the deceased.

Gursewak Singh, SHO, said: “We have registered a case and are trying to nab the accused driver.”
