39 injured as Beas dera bus collides with truck

JALANDHAR: As many as 39 people were injured as the bus they were travelling in collided with a truck on the Jalandhar-Amritsar highway here on Friday morning.

Jalandhar, May 27

As many as 39 people were injured as the bus they were travelling in collided with a truck on the Jalandhar-Amritsar highway here on Friday morning.

The injured were headed to Radha Soami Dera at Beas in a bus belonging to the dera.

The injured were rushed to Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences. Of these, 28 were discharged after giving them first aid while the remaining are undergoing treatment.

The truck driver fled the spot while police impounded the truck. No FIR was registered as the bus passengers did not file a complaint.

Jalandhar Congress MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary and Chief Parliamentary Secretary Pawan Kumar Tinu visited the injured at the hospital.

According to the passengers, the incident took place at 7.15 when the truck moving ahead of the bus took a sudden turn following which the bus driver lost control and rammed into the truck.
