Tarini Goyal, a student of Sacred Heart School, Sector 26, won the 27th Chandigarh Chess Championship by scoring seven points on the concluding day at the St Xavier’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44.

Naveen Bansal, who also scored seven points, finished second after a tie-break with Goyal. 

Jaskeerat Singh of Delhi Public School, Sector 40, claimed the third position (6 points).Nitin finished fourth with six points. 

As many as 60 players took part in the championship which had 25 FIDE-rated players. 

The top performers, Tarini Goyal, Naveen Bansal, Jaskeerat Singh and Nitin, have been selected to represent the city in the forthcoming National Challengers Chess Championship in Noida from July 8 to 19.
