Tehri District Magistrate (DM) Indudhar Baudai intervened in a dispute between GVK Company and its employees removed from jobs at Alaknanda Hydro Corporation project in Srinagar.

The DM directed the company to pay salaries, arrears and compensation to the affected employees. He gave the directions while holding a meeting at the district auditorium in New Tehri today.

Baudai told the regional director of the company, Santosh Reddy, that the employees had the constitutional right of equal pay hence the remaining compensation and pay should be given to them without any delay.

The employees had been agitating over the issue for the past several years and if GVK Company did not pay heed to their problems, it might result in a law and order problem. the DM added.

Satendar Bartwal, president of the retrenched employee’s association, said they were not ready to work in the company any more.
