The PGIMS authorities have decided to ban the entry of auto-rickshaws to minimise pollution on the campus. Instead of auto-rickshaws and other private vehicles, battery-operated vehicles will soon ferry the patients between the new OPD block and emergency/wards wing.

“The process of floating tenders for battery-operated vehicles is already under way,” said Dr V.K.Jain, officiating Vice-Chancellor of the Pt Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences here.

A move to enhance the green cover on the campus was also afoot, with the officials concerned examining the landscape plan and chalking out plans to plant more trees.

Dr Jain said the officials concerned had been asked to submit their requirement for electric heaters and get the same issued at the earliest so that the patients visiting the PGIMS do not face any inconvenience in cold weather.

He also directed officials of the engineering wing to take care of the damp corners in wards and fix the problem on a permanent basis.
