Woman dies as bus hits mobike

Chandigarh, July 3

A 27-year-old woman died after a recklessly driven HRTC bus hit the motorcycle on which she was riding pillion near the ISBT, Sector 43, this evening.

According to the police, the victim has been identified as Nidhi Sharma, a resident of Baltana, Zirakpur, who worked as a clerk in a dispensary at Palsora, Sector 56. She was on the way to the bus stand with one of her colleagues when the accident took place. The woman’s colleague used to drop her at the bus stand from where she used to take a bus to her home.

The bus, while entering the slip road, hit the motorcycle. The victim was rushed to the PGI, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Sources said the autopsy would be conducted tomorrow.

The bus driver was arrested and the bus impounded. A case has been registered at the Sector 36 police station.
