The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) held a workshop for students at Deoprayag, the confluence of Alanknanda and Bhagirathi, as part of its sensitisation progamme on the Namami Gange project.

Addressing the students, Dr Ruchi Badola, senior scientist at WII, exhorted the students to work towards keeping the Ganga clean. 

Dr VP Uniyal, entomologist, also took the opportunity to disclose that a padyatra starting from Deoprayag will start on June 1 which will culminate in Rishikesh. “The yatra will go along with the Ganga and sensitise people on its conservation,” Dr Uniyal said.

He said renowned environmentalist Dr Anil Joshi will be flag off the yatra at Deoprayag.
