Writers honoured in Kaithal

KAITHAL: Fifteen writers from the state were honoured by the Sahitya Sabha, Kaithal, at its annual function here today.

Fifteen writers from the state were honoured by the Sahitya Sabha, Kaithal, at its annual function here today.

Dr Chitranjan Dayal Singh Kaushal, Director, Youth and Cultural Affairs Department, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, was the chief guest, and Dr Chander Trikha, a former Director, Haryana Sahitya Academy, Panchkula, was the guest of honour.

In his address, Dr Trikha rued that the common man was losing his link with literature. Even though nearly 900 hundred books on literature were released in the state every year, it was very shocking that people were losing interest in literary activities, said Trikha.

The lifetime achievement award was conferred on Dr Chander Trikha.

Namita Rakesh from Faridabad, Rashmi Bajaj from Bhiwani, Prof Sham Lal Kaushal from Rohtak, Radhey Sham Bhartiya from Karnal, Sudershan Ratnakar and Ajay Agyat from Faridabad, Ramphal Khatkar and Ram Sharan Yuyutsu from Jind, Dinesh Bhardwaj of Dainik Tribune and Krishna Bachal from Kurukshetra were also awarded.
