Haridwar, February 27

Japanese yoga guru Mata Keiko Aikawa has urged people to practise and promote yoga. “Yoga can cure a number of severe health problems, if aided with determination and right yoga practice. It is fast becoming popular worldwide,” said Aikawa, who was accorded the Maha Mandaleshwar title in 2007 by Juna Akhada.

Aikawa, who hails from Japan, is in Haridwar to participate in the 11-day Maha Mritunjay Maha Yajna at the ashram of Maha Mandaleshwar Pilot Baba at Jagjeetpur here.

She has specialised in the ‘Bhoo-Samadhi’ mode of yoga asana. Aikawa has been practising Samadhi since 70s and developed Aikawa Yoga, which she teaches in Japan. She said the yajna being held for global peace was an important ritual.

Pilot Baba, while welcoming the Japanese yoga guru, said Aikawa is famous not only in Japan, but also in India and other parts of the world due to her spiritual-yoga prowess and knowledge. Matra Sadan revered saint Swami Shivanand also attended the yajna. People from Russia, Ukraine and other countries are taking part in it.

The yajna rituals would conclude on March 1. Maha Mandaleshwar Arjun Puri, Maha Mandaleswhar Chetan Mata, and Maha Mandaleshwar Shraddha Mata are taking part in it.
