The Young Thespians of DCR University of Science and Technology, Murthal, under the banner ‘Save a Child’ has taken an initiative to provide financial assistance to a family of Sonepat to meet the expenses required for transplantation of a kidney.

The group has managed to collect up to Rs 70,000 of the toal cost that is around Rs 7.50 lakh.

Sector-15 resident, Ranjan Gupta, came to know in 2010 that his youngest son, Ayush, had only one kidney and that too had developed some problems. During his treatment in different hospitals at Delhi, the kidney was further damaged and finally the doctors at BKL Hospital in Delhi suggested transplantation.

Though Ayush’s elder brother, Suchit offered to donate one of his kidneys to Ayush, but arranging around Rs 7.50 lakh as operation expenses was an uphill task for the family. The family had already sold its shop for Ayush’s treatment.

When it came to the notice of the members of Young Thespians, including Vivek Gautam, Anmol Gupta, Chirag, Kritika, Ritesh, Rahul, Sahil, Samriti,Tanavi, Vaishali, Vinay, Dushyant Chaudhary, Sahil, Vandana and others, they started collecting donations from the university students, teachers and other members of the non-teaching staff.

Vivek Gautam, coordinator of Young Thespians, told The Tribune, “The sign of humanity is helping others and even our tagline defines that Young Thespians: Finding solutions instead of complaining.”

The university’s registrar RK Arora appreciated the initiative taken by the students and said this would inspire others for rendering selfless service to society.
