3 booked for firing at toll plaza staff

Three unidentified youths allegedly assaulted a security guard and fired gunshots at the Makrauli toll plaza in the wee hours on Thursday as he refused to allow them to cross the toll barrier without paying the toll charges.

The police have registered a case under Sections 285, 323, 506 and 34 of the IPC and the Arms Act.

Security guards Sanjay and Deepak were on duty at the toll plaza when an i20 car, coming from the Gohana side, tried to pass through the fast lane without paying the toll charges. Deepak immediately put a barricade in front of the car. At this, the three youths sitting in the car came out and assaulted Deepak and fired gunshots in the air to intimidate him. When Sanjay ran to save Deepak, the youths sat in their car, took a U-turn and fled from the place. — TNS
