After a gap of nearly two months, the administration in the Haryana Civil Secretariat is set to be on track with Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar calling the first meeting of the new Council of Ministers on November 18.

The administrative work, which was in “suspended animation”, first on account of imposition of model code of conduct for the Haryana Assembly elections since September 27 and, later, because of delay in announcing names of ministers, will pick up pace after the first Cabinet meeting.

It will be an “introductory session” with top bureaucrats, but Khattar is expected to unveil his five-year vision for Haryana. Besides, almost all ministers have slated review meetings of their departments next week.

Khattar on Friday set the ball rolling for putting the administration back on track by installing nine ministers in their office. “We will work as a team and take steps in the interest of the state. As this is the second consecutive term of the BJP government, we will complete works which are in the pipeline and take several new initiatives,” Khattar said.

Meanwhile, department offices in the Secretariat were abuzz with activity, with head of the departments and administrative secretaries preparing “presentations” to be presented at the review meetings next week.

It has been learnt that the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) implementation committee, constituted under Home Minister Anil Vij, will start its work next week.

An administrative reshuffle is also expected after the Cabinet meeting. Khattar is expected to make political appointments in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

What’s in offing

  • Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar likely to unveil his five-year vision for Haryana at the Cabinet meeting
  • Almost all ministers want review meetings next week to have first-hand experience of departments’ working
  • Administrative reshuffle and appointment of political appointees such as OSDs in the CMO in the offing
