Prof Rajendra Kumar Anayath, Vice-Chancellor of the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology (DCRUST), Murthal, said as per a study report of the United Nations, 80 per cent of energy could be conserved by following the principles of energy conservation.

He said this while releasing a book titled, “Sustainable Building Design: Application Using Climatic Data in India,” which is written by Prof Chitrarekha of the Department of Architecture in the university last evening.

International publisher of Germany, Springer, has published the book.

Congratulating Prof Kabre, head of the Department of Architecture, for bringing university’s name on the international-level, the Vice-Chancellor said it had been written in the book that the building could be designed in response to climate for energy conservation and thermal comforts of the occupants.

“Natural resources of energy are becoming extinct and we need to preserve our natural resources,” said Prof Anayath and stressed on the need for climate-responsive (passive solar) design of building in accordance eith the five climatic zones of India.
