Cong fared badly in Gurugram

While it may have fared commendably across the state, the Congress surely lost its ground in Gurugram. Party candidates in all four segments of the city could not even secure the second position, being left far behind by first-timers and Independent candidates.

In Badshahpur constituency, Independent candidate Rakesh Daultabad won. Congress candidate Rao Kamalbir Singh managed to get only 10,610 votes.

Similarly, Sukhbir Kataria, Congress candidate from Gurugram, ended up being third with just over 23,000 votes. In Sohna, Sanjay Singh of the BJP won by a margin of 12,453 votes. JJP candidate Khatana stood second with 46,664 votes while Congress candidate Dr Samsuddin came fourth with only 10,735 votes.

In Pataudi constituency (SC reserved), Congress’ Sudhir Kumar emerged fourth with only 18,994 votes. — OC
