At least six members of a family, including five children, suffered burn injuries after sparks from an overhead high tension electricity line fell on their shanty in Karuna Colony in the Tigaon Assembly segment here last night. All injured have been admitted to the civil hospital and their condition is stated to be stable.

Abhay (10), Vir (6), Babita (40), Bhawna (11) and Manisha (10) and Ina (8) suffered burn injuries around 9 pm yesterday when a fireball of sparks from the overhead power line fell on their shanty. Vir, the youngest of the victims, has suffered serious injuries on his abdomen while others have suffered 20 per cent to 40 per cent burns.

Meanwhile, Tigaon MLA Lalit Nagar visited the hospital to enquire about the health of the victims. He blamed the Power Department for the incident. Complaints about loosely hanging wires had been lodged with the department and shifting of high voltage power lines in some of residential areas were demanded, but it did not take the matter seriously. The MLA demanded compensation for the affected family and free treatment of the injured.
