Netherlands to help Haryana build flower market in NCR

NEW DELHI: The state government on Thursday inked a memorandum of understanding with the Netherlands to cooperate in agriculture and allied sectors, including on the issue of stubble burning.

The state government on Thursday inked a memorandum of understanding with the Netherlands to cooperate in agriculture and allied sectors, including on the issue of stubble burning.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rotte. Chief Secretary DS Deshi was signatory from the Haryana side. Among the major assurances, the Netherlands will extend support to develop a flower market in Haryana’s NCR. Animal husbandry, dairy farming, poultry, pisciculture, horticulture and floriculture are other fields in which the two sides will cooperate.

Working together for diversifying Haryana’s agriculture sector would be one of the key areas of cooperation. The Netherlands will support the development of Peri Urban Farming by introducing high-value chains in horticulture.

The two sides would also cooperate on agriculture water management, use of brackish water, sub-surface drainage and restoration of water bodies.

The Netherlands would also help the state with technical advice to establish ‘Centres of Excellence’. It will also support in agro-logistic system, knowledge centres, advanced agricultural practices and post-harvest management.
