Chief Secretary DS Dhesi on Wednesday directed the officers concerned to expedite the work on rail network projects being implemented by the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS).

He was reviewing rail network projects being implemented by the RRTS. Dhesi was informed that the transit system had been proposed from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Gurugram, Shahjahanpur, Neemrana and Behror.

In this project, stations would be constructed between Delhi and Bawal at Sarai Kale Khan, Jor Bagh, Munirka, Aerocity, Udyog Vihar, Sector 17, Rajiv Chowk, Kherki Daula, Manesar, Pachgaon, Bilaspur Chowk, Dharuhera, MBIR, Rewari and Bawal.

The length of the route was 106 km, with Haryana’s share 81.86 km. This project would give impetus to development and investment in south Haryana, especially Gurugram.

The alignment for the RRTS project would be elevated from the old Delhi road in Gurugram to Signature Tower Chowk through Lt Atul Kataria Chowk and from NH-48 to Rajiv Chowk.

After that, the alignment was underground from Kherki Daula, where it would be overground till IMT-Manesar. Before entering Rajasthan, this alignment would go up to Dharuhera, Rewari and Bawal along with the national highway.

For this project, approval of the National Highway Authority of India had been obtained. For implementation of this project, an office was being established in Gurugram by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation.
