Panipat: The widening work of National Highway-44 from Panipat to Mukarba Chowk Delhi was started almost four years back and was to be completed long ago. Toll is being collected but the work has either been stopped or going on at a snail’s pace due to which commuters have to face hardship daily. Nobody has bothered to take this matter seriously. I have tweeted to Prime Minister, NHAI, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and CM Haryana many times, but no action has been initiated. The pathetic condition of the road leads to accidents and hours-long jams but nobody takes action. Why is toll tax being collected for an unfinished road? —Vikram Chauhan
Pond of filth
Ambala: Despite repeated reminders to the local authorities and even after registering a complaint at the CM Window, the pond in Kambassi village (in front of Goga Medi) of the district is still full of filth. It is a breeding place for mosquitoes. It has been cleaned on papers several times but the picture shows the reality. Are the authorities waiting for some epidemic to spread? —Sameer Bakshi
No repair of ambala streetlights
Ambala: Since the handing over of maintenance of HSVP sectors to Municipal Corporation, Ambala, no repairs or replacement is being carried out of streetlights even on the main shopping complex road of Sector-9 Ambala City. After sunset, there is darkness on the road. Authorities should resolve this issue at the earliest. — GD Nagpal
Are our roads fit to drive on?
Panchkula: The government has decided to strictly implement the provisions of the Motor Vehicles (Amended) Act, 2019. But some fundamental questions simultaneously arise — are all our roads ‘fit’ enough to ensure 24x7 hassle-free driving? Are our traffic cops honest enough to ensure that no “greasing of palms” would take place now? Is there any fool-proof mechanism in place to ensure that “no person on the wheels” is unduly implicated and/or victimised on flimsy grounds? Will these rules universally apply to all our VIPs and the political bigwigs? More importantly, will the traffic cops dutifully challan all the ‘erring’ police vehicles too? Are you listening, respected Nitin Gadkari ji? —SK Gupta
