Reprimanded, Panipat MC chief on clean-up drive

PANIPAT: Two days after Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar directed the district authorities to ensure cleanliness in the city, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Priyanka Soni has pulled up officials of a private company — which bagged the tender for lifting garbage — for poor sanitation.

Two days after Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar directed the district authorities to ensure cleanliness in the city, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Priyanka Soni has pulled up officials of a private company — which bagged the tender for lifting garbage — for poor sanitation.

She has directed officials of Gurugram-based company JBM Environment Management to instal dustbins on main points and speed up the lifting of garbage.

On Tuesday, Khattar had found heaps garbage on city roads. Disappointed with the state of affairs, he had directed the authorities to clean the city during the night.

During a round of the city, Soni found heaps of garbage on roadsides and at several places. She suspended a safai daroga of Gur Mandi area on Wednesday for alleged negligence and pulled up roadside vendors for poor sanitation.
