Rohtak, September 11

The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development has sanctioned financial assistance of Rs 50 crore to Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) here under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) for carrying out innovation and research activities.

A proposal in this regard was placed for approval at the meeting of Project Approval Board held in Delhi on Monday. The board gave its nod to the proposal after discussing it in detail. It would be for the first time the MDU would get such a big amount for research, said Prof Rajbir Singh, Vice Chancellor.

“This monetary aid will help the MDU in touching new heights in the field of science and industry research and in giving a boost to innovation and quality of advanced research,” he said. He pointed out that the MDU had outscored Delhi University in evaluation by the NAAC earlier this year to be awarded the grade. — TNS
