Shoulder-related ailments on the rise

MUNANAGAR: Dr Manit Arora, consultant, shoulder and knee surgery, Fortis Hospital, Mohali, said a 500 per cent increase was seen in shoulder-related ailments in North India in the last one year.

Dr Manit Arora, consultant, shoulder and knee surgery, Fortis Hospital, Mohali, said a 500 per cent increase was seen in shoulder-related ailments in North India in the last one year.

“There is a growing concern as more and more people are complaining about shoulder-related ailments,” Dr Arora said at a press conference in Yamunanagar today.

“When we started the shoulder unit at Fortis, we received one or two cases per month, but over the last one year, the number has gone up to 30,” she said. There were various causes of shoulder pain, including rotator cuff tears and arthritis. However, most shoulders were diagnosed s frozen shoulders. — TNS
