Jind city is set to have its maiden stormwater management system. Deputy Commissioner Amit Khatri on Monday laid the foundation stone of a Rs20-crore project Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).

Khatri said, “The project will be completed in six months. In the absence of a rainwater management mechanism, most parts of the city get submerged during the rainy season.”

The DC said a 20-km-long pipeline would be laid to handle the rainwater at one spot near the grain market.

“The state government has identified 18 cities to be equipped with stormwater management under Central-funded AMRUT,” he added.
