KARNAL: Three persons were killed on Saturday night in connection with a dispute between two families over a piece of land in Sitamai village of the district.

Three persons were killed on Saturday night in connection with a dispute between two families over a piece of land in Sitamai village of the district.

Three persons, including a woman, were injured in the incident. Keeping in view the tense situation, the police were deployed in the village to maintain law and order situation.

As per information, two cousins Rajesh and Satish, residents of Sitamai village, were involved in a dispute of around 1.5 acres. Both claimed that the disputed land belonged to them.

The deceased were identified as Nafe Singh (32), Ravi (21) and Parveen Kumar (30), residents of Jamni village in Jind district.

Parveen was the brother-in-law of Rajesh, while Nafe Singh and Ravi were friends of Parveen, who came to Sitamai to resolve the issue.

Rajesh, his wife Reena and Rohit, residents of Sitamai, also received injuries, the police said. Both families were involved in the land dispute for the past several years and their case was pending in court.

On April 19, claiming to have harvested their share of land by each other, the family members of Rajesh and Satish had a brawl, said Surinder Singh Bhoria, Superintendent of Police (SP). “We have taken preventive action and asked both parties to maintain peace under Sections 107 and 150 of the CrPC,” the SP said.

In his complaint, Rajesh reported that his brother-in-law Parveen along with Nafe Singh and Ravi, came to his home on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Satish and Rampal, residents of Sitamai, along with their family members and relatives, attacked them with sharp-edged weapons on Saturday night.

Nafe Singh and Ravi were declared dead by the doctors on Saturday while Parveen died on Sunday, the SP said.

“We have registered a case against Satish and his family members, Rampal and his family along with 15 others under Sections 148, 149, 302 and 452 of the IPC,” the SP said.

The police arrested Satish, Ravinder, a resident of Sonepat, and Rishipal, a resident of Sitamai. The police would take them on remand, he said.

Rivalry between two cousins

  • As per information, two cousins Rajesh and Satish, residents of Sitamai village, were involved in a dispute of around 1.5 acres. Both claimed that the disputed land belonged to them; their case is pending in court.
  • The deceased were identified as Parveen Kumar (30), Nafe Singh (32), Ravi (21), all residents of Jamni village in Jind district. Praveen was the brother-in-law of Rajesh while the other two victims were Praveen’s friends.
