In a bid to ensure safety of city residents during night-time, the police now plan to seek the help of youth who frequent pubs, discos and lounges.

After the Punjab and Haryana High Court asked the police to submit suggestions by December 20 to make city pubs, especially the ones located on MG Road, safe, the cops have already begun work in this regard.

In addition to researching law and order situation in cosmopolitan cities, such as Mumbai, the police are now going to seek suggestions and feedback from regular pub-goers.

Through its social media portals, the police would invite the patrons to highlight the law and order issues they have faced, if any, at the pubs and lounges. In addition, the police plan to invite suggestions from them to deal with the issues.

“We have to give a detailed list of suggestions to the court on the changes required in the pubs and lounges. As it will affect the patrons and residents, we feel they should also have a say in the matter. We feel they might come up with issues which might have skipped our attention,” said Police Commissioner KK Rao.

According to sources, many foreign nationals working in the city too have been invited to submit their suggestions. The policemen shall also frequent the pubs in civvies to get a first-hand experience of the situation.
