Two killed in road mishaps in G’gram

GURUGRAM: A man was run over by a speeding car as he was cycling to work here today.

Gurugram, January 8

A man was run over by a speeding car as he was cycling to work here today. The deceased was identified as Jailal (55), a native of Nepal. He lived with his family at Nathupur village.

The police took Jailal to the Civil Hospital, but he couldn’t be saved.

The accident took place opposite Plaza Mall near MG Metro Station around 7 am. The car driver fled after the mishap. An unidentified car driver was booked under Sections 279 (rash driving) and 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC at the Sector 29 police station.

In another accident, a bus coming from the wrong direction mowed down a youth near the NSG camp in Manesar. The deceased was identified as Sonu (25). He was crossing the road when the bus hit him. The bus driver fled after the mishap.

Truck driver dies

Karnal: A truck driver was killed and three others were injured as two trucks hit another one parked on the National Highway 44 from behind in the wee hours of today.

The deceased has been identified as Sukvinder Singh (38) from Hoshiarpur (Punjab).

The injured persons were taken to Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital here. Their condition was said to be stable.

The investigating officer, ASI Raj Kumar, said the driver of the stationary truck escaped after the incident. “An unidentified truck driver has been booked under Sections 279 and 304-A of the IPC,” he added. — TNS
