The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Shashi Bala Chauhan on Thursday sentenced two teenaged boys to 10-year imprisonment for raping a minor girl and also imposed a fine of Rs40,000 on each of them.

The boys kidnapped a 15-year-old girl of the same village under the jurisdiction of the Sadar police station here in February last year and gang-raped her. The accused threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone. However, the victim informed her parents about it.

The Sadar police registered a case under Sections 365 (kidnapping), 506 (criminal intimidation) and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the boys and arrested them.

District Attorney Rajesh Kumar Chaudhary said the Juvenile Justice Board had earlier stated that the accused could not be treated as minors because they were fully aware of what they were doing.

Chaudhary said that the court ordered to send them to the observation home in Sonepat. The court said that Rs70,000 of the fine would be given to the victim.
