A woman delivered a baby in a toilet at the Civil Hospital here today. Family members of the victim, Seema (28), alleged negligence on part the hospital authorities. Isham Singh, husband of the victim, claimed that no member of the medical staff was available when he brought his wife to the labour room in the morning.

While she cried in pain, no member of the medical staff was available to help Seema. As her mother-in-law pleaded for help, Seema went to the toilet where she delivered a baby girl with the help of her husband in the absence of medical staff. In the meantime, a staff nurse came to the toilet. Seeing the baby girl in Isham’s hands in reportedly scolded him and instead blamed him for negligence.

Later, Dr Om Prakash, SMO, said that the matter was brought to his notice and the incident would be inquired. He said they would ensure that such incidents do not happen again.
