KAITHAL: The CIA-2 cell of the district police here have arrested a woman and her two accomplices who had allegedly threatened to implicate a man in a rape case and extorted Rs 5 lakh and a scooty from him which has been recovered by the police.

The CIA-2 cell of the district police here have arrested a woman and her two accomplices who had allegedly threatened to implicate a man in a rape case and extorted Rs 5 lakh and a scooty from him which has been recovered by the police.

Superintedent of Police Astha Modi said here this evening that as per the complaint lodged by Anil of Kithana village in the district, he was trapped by a woman of Birthe Bahri village. Later, she threatened to implicate him in a rape case.

Meanwhile, the woman by threatening Anil reportedly extorted building material worth lakhs, AC, an LED and some lakhs of rupees from him. For the past few days, the woman and her accomplices had demanded Rs 13 lakh from the victim and asked him to pay Rs 5 lakh by September 21 and the rest Rs 8 lakh by October 10.

A police team laid a trap and accompanied by naib tehsildar Ishwar Singh caught the woman, aged 32, and her two accomplices, Stalin, alias Laadi, of Dudana village of Jind and Kapil of Bahri village in Karnal and recovered Rs 5 lakh signed notes handed over to them by the victim. — OC
