A Himachal Pradesh government helicopter on Thursday morning rescued the shepherd who was injured on August 5 because of the falling stones from the hill 25 km from Bara Bhangal village.

Tucked away in the Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal ranges of the Himalayas at a height of 11,000 feet, Bara Bhangal is considered one of the remotest villages in the state.

Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Prajapati said the helicopter managed to land at Bara Bhangal village on Thursday morning. Chatru Ram was brought to Gaggal airport and was being admitted to the Tanda medical college, he said.

Earlier, a team of villagers from Bara Bhangal had rescued the shepherd from the area where he was hit by the falling stones. He was brought to Bara Bhangal village on Wednesday. Since he could not be brought out of the valley on foot, the state government was requested to send a helicopter.

The helicopter could not fly to the place on Wednesday owing to bad weather.
