MANDI: A man was booked for assaulting a police officer on duty at Kehri village in Mandi district on Sunday night.

A man was booked for assaulting a police officer on duty at Kehri village in Mandi district on Sunday night.

The police said Gulshan, under the influence of liquor, damaged several items in his house and threatened to kill his family members. They called the police. Sub-inspector Chaman Lal and a Home Guard jawan rushed to the spot but the accused did not spare them. He chased them and hit an axe on the head of the police officer. DSP, Sarkaghat, Chanderpal said the officer had a narrow escape as he was wearing a helmet. Later, the accused fled the spot. “We have booked the accused and a police team has been sent to nab him,” he added. — TNS
