PALAMPUR: Hundreds of villagers held a protest over the installation of a new stone crusher at Jaisinghpur which is notorious for large-scale illegal mining.

PALAMPUR, July 15

Hundreds of villagers held a protest over the installation of a new stone crusher at Jaisinghpur which is notorious for large-scale illegal mining.

Official sources said influential persons had applied for a stone crusher near Jaisinghpur and the government had asked the local authorities to submit a detailed inspection report so that the approval could be granted.

As soon as a team of the revenue, forest , police and mining departments reached the spot, hundreds of villagers moved out of their houses and opposed the installation of new stone crusher.

They alleged that six stone crushers, already functional, had made their lives hell and if one more stone crusher was added, it would multiplied their miseries.

Villagers urged SDM, Jaisinghpur, Ashwani Sood, who was on the spot, not to recommend its installation.— OC
