NIFT hacker granted bail

KANGRA: Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Dheeru Thakur today granted bail to Alok Kumar, an NIFT student, arrested for allegedly hacking the official website of National Institute of Fashion Technology and tampering with the marks sheets.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Dheeru Thakur today granted bail to Alok Kumar, an NIFT student, arrested for allegedly hacking the official website of National Institute of Fashion Technology and tampering with the marks sheets. He was earlier remanded into 5-day police custody, which ended today.

Surinder Sharma, Sub Divisional Police Officer, said that investigation in the case was under way and a laptop of Prof S Balasidartha, Director, NIFT, had been seized. He said the students whose marks sheets were tampered with could not be questioned till now. He, however, said that some NIFT officials would be interrogated.

Alok Kumar allegedly hacked the NIFT website of to increase his marks for a better grade. He reportedly managed to increase the marks of 50 other students too. — OC
