Air-India today began the sale of tickets online for regular flights for the Kullu-Chandigarh sector which will be started on October 13.

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda and Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha inaugurated the flight on October 5. The airline has started the sale of tickets after getting the final approval.

The operations will be conducted using the same 70-seater ATR-72 aircraft, which was operating in the Delhi-Kullu sector. The flight from Delhi will come as usual and the same flight will operate between Kullu and Chandigarh. It will then return to Delhi from Kullu.

The fares for the one-way travel between Kullu and Chandigarh were generally around Rs 10,000 on the website of the airline and the highest fare was around Rs 18,000. During his address at the inauguration ceremony, the Union Minister had stated that the fare for the one-way travel would be Rs 5,000 and the Kullu-Chandigarh sector would be included in the second version of UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik) Scheme and the fares would be reduced much further.

Earlier, the government had announced to put a cap on the fare for the flights less than one-hour duration to Rs 2,500. However, the fares for the 45-minute flight between Kullu and Chandigarh were not capped.
