Solan, January 14

The Parwanoo police yesterday arrested the main accused Pradeep Kumar in the canter union firing case and search is on to trace three accomplices.

A countrymade rifle and 8-mm bore rifle were used by the miscreants to fire in the Sector-6 office of the canter union at Parwanoo last Saturday following dispute between the rival factions of the local transport unions.

SHO Shyam Tomar said Pradeep Kumar was produced at a Kasauli court today and remanded in three-day police custody. He said Kumar was a proclaimed offender in Haryana and 20 criminal cases, including those under the NDPS Act, were registered against him at Pinjore and Kalka.

Pradeep Kumar had also alleged that he had been attacked with rods by some miscreants in Sector-2 of the town though he had only sustained minor injuries.

The police had stationed two armed reserves in the town to ensure that the law and order situation was not disturbed again. — TNS
