Three killed in road mishaps

MANDI: Three persons were killed and four injured in two road accidents in Mandi district on Monday. The first accident was reported near the Prashar lake on Monday morning.

Mandi, December 31

Three persons were killed and four injured in two road accidents in Mandi district on Monday.

The first accident was reported near the Prashar lake on Monday morning.

A Maruti van, carrying six persons, was returning to Kullu from Prashar when the vehicle fell into a gorge. Two victims died on the spot, while the others suffered injuries.

The deceased have been identified as Abhishek, alias Abu (19), of Bajogi village in Manali and Aakash (18) of Siyal village in Manali of Kullu district.

The injured — Piyush, Amit Kumar, Manu Kumar, all from Bajogi village — were rushed to the Zonal Hospital, Mandi.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Padhar, Madan Kant Sharma said the vehicle skidded off the road due to frost.

A case has been registered. Another accident was reported from Nihri at Jandred Mod.

The driver, Rahul Sharma, a resident of Kullu, died on the spot.
