Two units in Baddi gutted

Solan, October 22

Loss worth crores was suffered by two packaging units at the Billanwali area of the Baddi industrial area this morning. No loss of life was, however, reported as the units were closed.

Fire was initially noticed in Ganesh Industries around 1:30 am and before it could be doused, the unit was gutted. Though the unit’s security personnel informed the fire brigade at Baddi, the fire had spread to adjoining Banwari Lal Packaging Unit before the fire tenders could arrive.

Apart from the raw material, a large quantity of the finished goods were also burnt. Damage was also caused to the buildings.

It took fire tenders more than five hours to douse it due to the presence of inflammable material in the units. Fire tenders were also requisitioned from the adjoining areas of Nalagarh, Parwanoo as well as Baddi.

Smoke could be seen billowing out from the premises till this evening.— TNS
