Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs Anurag Thakur today said that his priorities for Himachal Pradesh would be the same as those of the state government.

Addressing a public gathering at Una during his maiden visit here after being inducted into the Union Cabinet in the 17th Lok Sabha, Anurag said he will soon meet Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and his Cabinet colleagues to discuss priority issues. He said he will make all efforts to push funds from the Centre to speed up development works in the state.

The minister said that the people of Hamirpur segment had increased his lead by four times as compared to the previous elections, adding that he will also try to ensure a four-fold increase in the speed of development works. 

Anurag said since regular Union Budget was to be tabled in the Lok Sabha on July 5, the ministry was busy in preparing the Budget documents. He invited people to give their views to the ministry regarding improvements in the GST and banking system, besides others.

Anurag said during the last five years inflation rate had come down drastically, while the fiscal deficit had been reduced to 3.4 per cent by the Narendra Modi government. He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance ministry will work for strengthening the economy, boosting employment generation and facilitating trade.

Earlier, Anurag was accorded a warm welcome by the district BJP organisation and party workers at the Mehatpur inter-state barrier in Una district on reaching from Delhi. At the Una district headquarters, a public function was organsed by the BJP to felicitate Anurag. He later went to the Chintpurni temple to offer prayers.

No dearth of funds for CUHP: Minister

  • Kangra: Union Minister for State for Finance Anurag Thakur on his arrival in Dehra assured the people of the state that work of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh would start shortly and sufficient funds will be made available for this by the Central government.
  • He said the railway network would be expanded in order to boost religious tourism in the hill state. The rail expansion will help the state government in developing a pilgrim circuit. OC
