12 cyclists leave for tour to Kanyakumari

JAMMU: Minister for Youth Services and Sports and Technical Education Imran Raza Ansari today flagged off a group of 12 cyclists from J&K and other states on an expedition to Kanyakumari.

Minister for Youth Services and Sports and Technical Education Imran Raza Ansari today flagged off a group of 12 cyclists from J&K and other states on an expedition to Kanyakumari.

The event has been organised by Eco-Riders Club and the cyclists were hosted by J&K State Sports Council. They will spread awareness on environment protection.

Inspector General of Police, Jammu, SD Singh; vice-chairman, J&K State Sports Council, Jammu, Ranjeet Kalra; and Chief Sports Officer Haji Abdul Qayoom were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Ansari lauded the cyclists and exhorted them to be the messengers of the state and carry the message of peace, brotherhood and significance of environment protection across the country.

The vice-chairman of the J&K State Sports Council said the cycling expedition was based on three themes — save the environment, peace and brotherhood and ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’. — TNS
