BJP condemns Omar for ‘politicising’ Kathua case

JAMMU: The BJP today criticised former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for ‘politicising’ the Kathua rape case, in which a minor tribal girl was allegedly raped and brutally murdered.

Jammu, February 23

The BJP today criticised former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for ‘politicising’ the Kathua rape case, in which a minor tribal girl was allegedly raped and brutally murdered.

BJP spokesman Brig Anil Gupta (retd) regretted that Omar Abdullah was desperately trying to take political mileage from the monstrous crime. He was reacting to Omar Abdullah’s tweet in which he (Omar) had opposed handing over of this case to the CBI. In a tweet, Omar has almost accused the CBI of prejudice. “It is rather important to see that the person who is trying to make political ground by fiddling into sensitive matters such as rape,” Gupta alleged. He said it was indeed a matter of shame, as the society irrespective of political affiliations must stand univocally against the grave sin and rather demand highly professional attitude in putting the culprits behind the bars. Gupta said it should be welcomed that a premier Central agency was being included into the case to ensure that justice prevails. — TNS
