Former minister and BJP leader Sham Lal Sharma on Sunday cautioned Kashmir-centric parties to desist from issuing anti-national statements for political gains.

Sham Lal, who recently resigned from the Congress and joined the BJP, chaired the first monthly meeting of workers at Akhnoor.

During the meeting, he accused the NC, Congress and PDP of being in a “habit of backing anti-Indian forces”.

“The leaders, who are making anti-national statements, should be booked under the sedition law so that they desist from such remarks,” he appealed to the Central and state governments.

He said the leaders of the “so-called” secular front, including former Chief Ministers Ghulam Nabi Azad, Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti did not address a single public meeting in Hindu-dominated Assembly segments in the Jammu-Poonch and Udhampur-Kathua parliamentary seats.

Sham Lal said anti-national statements made by the leaders were against the unity and integrity of the country and amounted to sedition.

Taking a dig at the Congress, NC and PDP, he claimed sadness had gripped these parties and Pakistan after the IAF strikes at Balakot.

“A surgical strike was not possible as Pakistan had deployed tanks along the border. But the Modi government carried out airstrikes and demolished terror targets inside Pakistan,” he said.
