DGP grants scholarship to 60 wards of martyred cops

SRINAGAR: J&K Director General of Police Shesh Paul Vaid has granted scholarship to 60 wards of policemen killed in militancy-related incidents and accidents.



Srinagar, July 8

J&K Director General of Police Shesh Paul Vaid has granted scholarship to 60 wards of policemen killed in militancy-related incidents and accidents.

“The DGP granted a scholarship of Rs 3.8 lakh in favour of 60 wards of police martyrs and deceased personnel. The scholarships have been granted out of the Central welfare fund and Central police education fund for the academic year 2017-18,” a police spokesman said.

“Around Rs 2.46 lakh have been sanctioned in favour of 32 wards of police martyrs, who laid down their lives in different militancy-related incidents in the state. These wards include 23 students of primary and higher secondary level, six of undergraduate classes and three students of postgraduation,” he said.

Besides, a scholarship of Rs 1.34 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of 28 wards of police personnel who died while in service due to accidental or natural deaths. — TNS
