Jammu, November 21

Lt Gen Saranjit Singh, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 16 Corps, today called on Governor NN Vohra at Raj Bhawan here. He briefed him about the security situation in his area, particularly along the Line of Control (LoC).

The Governor discussed with the GOC issues relating to effective internal security management in the hinterland and further strengthening of the counter-infiltration grid.

Brig MM Harjai (retired), Chief Administrative Officer of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Super-Specialty Hospital, also called on the Governor today.

Harjai briefed the Governor about all aspects of the hospital’s functioning, particularly about the increasing number of outdoor and indoor patients, number of diagnostic tests conducted and the number of major surgeries performed since the hospital was inaugurated by the Prime Minister in April 2016.

The Governor stressed the need to ensure optimum use of the state-of-the-art diagnostic and other infrastructure available in the hospital for providing best healthcare to the patients.

Former Chief Secretary and former Member Legislative Council BR Kundal too called on the Governor here. The Governor and Kundal discussed various important issues of public importance, including the functioning of the administrative apparatus, importance of ensuring transparency and accountability in all spheres of functioning and the need for speeding up the implementation of development schemes and programmes.

Appreciating Kundal’s concerns, the Governor urged him to vigorously continue his endeavours for promoting the people’s welfare.
