Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra today met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and discussed with him a host of issues concerning the state, including the repeated ceasefire violations by Pakistani forces in the recent past.

Sources in the Ministry of Home Affairs said the meeting lasted for about 30 minutes during which the two leaders reviewed the prevailing political and security situation in the Valley. The Governor apprised the Home Minister about the steps taken by the state government for bringing normalcy in the Valley, they added.

Issues, like the ceasefire violations from across the border, increasing infiltration attempts and the incidence of terrorism in the Valley were also deliberated during the meeting, the sources said.

A 40-year-old woman was killed in firing by the Pakistani army on border villages in the Poonch district of the state on August 12.

Pakistan had violated the ceasefire four times on August 13 by firing and shelling in Krishna Ghati, Nowshera and Mankote sectors, resulting in injuries to three jawans. On August 8 also, forces from across the border fired and shelled in the Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district, in which one Indian soldier was killed.
