Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Swayam Prakash Pani directed the officials to adopt a “people-friendly” attitude while performing their duties.

He said this while interacting with the officials and police personnel at the District Police Lines in Handwara, north Kashmir, on Sunday, a police spokesman said.

The IGP said this would give the police-public relation a fillip in the right direction, which would eventually help the police in understanding the problems being faced by the people in a better way and the speedy disposal of the grievances.

He also directed the officials to ensure accountability for the actions and to perform their responsibilities with due care and caution.

The IGP talked about the importance and need for transparency in the functioning of the police and emphasised the role and utility of modern technology in ushering transparency in the functioning of the police department.
