Navy Chief briefed on security situation

SRINAGAR: The Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral RK Dhowan, arrived in Srinagar today on a day-long visit and interacted with Navy and Army personnel.

The Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral RK Dhowan, arrived in Srinagar today on a day-long visit and interacted with Navy and Army personnel.

The Navy Chief was given an update by the Chinar Corps Commander, Lt Gen Satish Dua, at the Badami Bagh Cantonment on the security situation, an Army spokesman said.

“On his arrival, the Chief of Naval Staff was received by Lt Gen Satish Dua. The Navy Chief was given an update on various activities undertaken by Chinar Corps related with security and Awaam oriented welfare initiatives,” the spokesman said.

“The Corps Commander apprised the Navy Chief in particular about the role of the Army and marine commandos who relentlessly worked to save the people and provide succour during the hours of distress,” the spokesman said.

The Navy Chief addressed officers and interacted with all ranks of the Army, Air Force and Navy. He complimented the Chinar Corps for ensuring a secure environment in the state.

He emphasised on synergised people-friendly operations, upholding the law of the land and respecting human rights. He highlighted several initiatives being undertaken for capability augmentation of armed forces and welfare measures.

He apprised officers of the Chinar Corps about latest developments in the Navy. “The Navy Chief expressed satisfaction about the security situation prevailing in the Valley and appreciated the Chinar Corps for its relentless welfare initiatives towards Awaam,” the spokesman said.
